What does “with a regime” mean?

"A residence permit with a regime is a full-fledged residence and work permit in the Czech Republic for 2 years, but its issuance requires more time and is limited by government quotas for certain countries. The document itself does not differ from the “visa-free” one, the difference is in the procedure for obtaining it.

This means that:

  • the candidate's country of origin is included in the list of countries covered by the Czech Republic's migration quotas;

  • appointments at the consulate are limited and often held only during certain periods

Conditions of the “with regime” card:

  • Registration at the consulate - only within quotas and queue;

  • Waiting period - 6-8 months (or longer);

  • submission - through programs with restrictions;

  • employer - must be registered in the system.

What does “visa-free” mean?

The Czech Card without a regime is a long-term residence permit for the purpose of employment in the Czech Republic, which is issued without participation in quota migration programs and without restrictions imposed on individual countries.

This means that:

  • the candidate is not limited by migration quotas;

  • there are no queues or complicated procedures for making an appointment at the consulate;

  • documents can be submitted at any available time as soon as they are ready;

  • the procedure is faster, simpler and more predictable.

Conditions of the “with regime” card:

  • Appointment to the consulate - free of charge;

  • Waiting period - 1-2 weeks;

  • submission - no restrictions;

  • employer - may not be registered in the system.
